Russell J. Smith
Russell joined Fitch Law Partners LLP as an associate in 2016, after having practiced in a boutique family law firm on Cape Cod. His practice is focused on family law, probate, and general civil litigation. While on the Cape, Russell represented clients in a broad range of family law matters. One client, faced with a breakdown in their co-parenting relationship writes:
“I looked for a lawyer as soon as possible and through the grace of God I got Russell.
He was awesome. He's sharp as a tack and took all the pressure off of me. He was always thinking like 3 moves ahead and made everything look easy. He was easy to talk to and always listened to me even when I was losing my cool half way through which was good because let's face it going through divorce and child custody modifications etc. is no fun. It's very easy to lose sight of the big picture. Fortunately keeping his eye on the prize and keeping everything is focus is where Russell seems to shine.”
Prior to entering private practice, Russell served for two years as a law clerk to Probate and Family Court judges in counties throughout the Commonwealth. During that time, he worked closely with the judiciary in researching and drafting decisions related to divorce, alimony, custody, parenting time, and complex asset division.
Russell attended Boston College Law School (J.D., 2013) and the University of California, Berkeley (B.A., 2009). Russell’s focus on family studies began early in law school, when he served as a summer judicial law clerk in the Norfolk Probate and Family Court during his first year. As a law student, Russell also represented clients at the Boston College Legal Assistance Bureau and served as the President of the Boston College Law School Veterans Association. Russell was also a founding member of U.C. Berkeley’s “Cal Veterans Group.” Russell was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant.
