Pro Bono
Fitch Law Partners LLP is committed to the representing clients with urgent needs who cannot afford to hire a lawyer. The Firm undertakes pro bono representations in a wide variety of cases. Recent pro bono engagements include the following:
- Carlos Maycotte is volunteer attorney for Kinds in Need of Defense (KIND) and represent unaccompanied minors in asylum and special immigrant juvenile petitions, as well as in removal petitions before the U.S. Citizens and Immigration Services. For instance, they successfully represented an unaccompanied minor from El Salvador in removal proceedings, preventing her from being deported. In addition, they won her approval of a special immigrant juvenile status, which allowed her to obtain permanent residence in the United States. Attorneys at Fitch Law Partners LLP have volunteered for KIND on repeated occasions, and have obtained permanent resident status for five different minors. Mr. Maycotte has been interviewed about the plight of unaccompanied immigrant minors in separate NBC News stories that focused on one of his clients.
- Kurt Kusiak secured an award, pro bono, for a bike accident victim who was hit by a valet driver on Boston’s busy Commonwealth Avenue.
- Our lawyers frequently represent victims of domestic abuse and harassment who seek orders of protection.
We encourage and support all of our lawyers in lending assistance to the poor, the disadvantaged and others in need. Please contact our pro bono coordinator, Carlos Maycotte, if you have any questions regarding our legal aid services.
