In her business practice, Ms. Knowles counsels and represents businesses and business owners in matters involving contract disputes and alleged violations of consumer protection statutes, including consumer class actions. She also drafts contracts and conducts contract reviews for clients with an eye toward protecting their key interests and managing risks.

In her employment practice, Ms. Knowles serves both as adviser and advocate. She provides training and counsels business clients on developing robust workplace policies and practices to minimize risk of litigation. She drafts employment and severance agreements and other work-related documents. She also conducts internal investigations. When litigation arises, Ms. Knowles defends clients, in court and before administrative boards, against allegations of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and other related wrongs.

In her product liability practice, Ms. Knowles defends manufacturers and retailers in litigation involving the design and manufacture of consumer goods, including power tools, electrical equipment, lawn-and-garden equipment, and automotive components. Ms. Knowles has appeared before state and federal courts, in Massachusetts, throughout New England, and beyond, in cases involving catastrophic injuries and significant property damage. She has established productive long-term working relationships with a number of clients through representing them in litigation spanning several years and multiple jurisdictions.

Throughout her years of practice, Ms. Knowles has maintained a steadfast commitment to pro bono work. For years she was responsible for the representation of a national civil-rights organization in a housing discrimination matter. She has advocated for a high school teacher disciplined for political speech, and has acted on behalf of a high school student in need of special-education services.
